This page presents a three-dimensional reconstruction of a Great Kiva, an architectural feature found in many prehistoric Anasazi communities in the Southwestern United States. This particular model was created using archaeological records from the excavated Chetro Ketl Great Kiva, which was found in Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico. Site maps and excavation data were used to create this 3-D model, which contains over 1,000 objects, mostly in the roofing, and took about two years of very sporadic work to create. The model was created using Metacreations Infini-D on a Mac platform.
